We have decided to suspend our activity on Twitter/X. While we’ve enjoyed connecting with many of our community members there, we believe it’s vital to align our social presence with platforms that share our values for advancing trusted journalism, expert voices and quality information. This is one of the reasons we’re moving away from Twitter/X and investing our energy in Mastodon and other open social platforms. We will keep our accounts up, and will occasionally use them to retweet our creators and curators, but will not be actively monitoring or posting updates on X.

As widely reported, Twitter/X’s rollback of moderation policies has led to a rise in harmful rhetoric and hate speech and its platform decisions have advanced false narratives and disinformation. These changes run contrary to our values and so we’ve decided to invest in other, healthier environments.

We believe platforms built on open standards represent the future of social media. Moving forward you can connect with Flipboard’s community team, support team and editorial desks on Mastodon. We hope you’ll join us there if you haven’t already. And if you use LinkedIn, Blueksy, Instagram or Threads, you’ll find us there as well.

Moreover, we’re working to make Flipboard itself part of the Fediverse. This will make it possible for users on Mastodon or other federated services to follow and engage with Flipboard profiles. Stay tuned for more on that soon!

What are your thoughts?

I'm pleased to see you're moving away from Twitter. It's been hard to see such a great resource turn into something so ugly and abused. I hoped it would turn around, but I'm certain it's just too late.
I changed to a mastodon instance and It's become…
